I'm Kate Webber.
The Year is 2039.
God, I'm a nervous wreck. I don't even know what I'm doing here.
For some reason, posting all this seems like it might be a good idea.

Clicking on that little play arrow above will let you listen in on a pre-recorded entry.
I plan on doing one a day, for as long as I can.

With the recent discovery of some weird ass gene that reanimates corpses, I guess we're all just trying to prepare. Other bloggers are posting and making their own records of escape routes, should the worst come about. The East coast seems safe for now.
Please, try to survive.
Good luck.

Baron Von Goolo wants YOU! [20 Aug 2008|01:19am]

Is Halloween your favorite holiday? Or do you just get a huge kick out of
dressing up and scaring the holy h-e-double-hell out of people? Then you
might want to hang out at FrightTown this September and October.

The FrightTown haunted house is the biggest and scariest haunted house in
the whole Portland metro, and we'll be reopening our doors at the Portland
Memorial Coliseum on Saturday, October 4, for a whole new season of thrills
and screams. Not too many people realize that all that horror is actually a
non-profit production by the 1031 Community Theatre - and every year about
this time we look far and wide for the best and scariest new volunteers we
can find. We have positions for actors, set decorators, set builders, makeup
artists, costume designers and more, for every level of experience from rank
amateur to polished pro. And since we're a local non-profit arts collective,
if your school or company has some sort of community service requirement, we
can help you meet it by scaring the crap out of people. That's a good deal.

Preparations have already begun and we'll be starting Scare School training
soon. Go to 1031theatre.org or frighttown.com for more details, or if you
want to sign up, click on the banner below.

Happy Halloween!

Apocalypse Now? REALLY now? [22 Mar 2008|03:54pm]

[ mood | uncomfortable ]

This is a true story. And this event happened to me just today.

No more than about 40 minutes ago, Me, my Dad and Sister were out and about. We first went to the Verizon Wireless store so my sister could get her cell phone updated or something. I was bored the whole time until it was time to drop off the movies we rented from Hollywood Video.

When we got there, my Dad stopped in the middle of the parking lot and asked me if I would drop the movies off in the drop box. So I did. And as I was walking towards the movie drop box, some Mexican guy had just dropped off movies himself and was walking away from the drop box when he suddenly stopped after I walked past him. I saw him out of the corner of my eye, and turned around to see him looking up at the sky as if he saw a space ship or something. Then all of a sudden, he started twirling around in circles with his head still pointed at the sky. I just stood there and looked at him. I had no idea what he was doing or if he was just joking around or something. Then he fell to the ground and started shaking like he was having a seizure or something. He then began to foam out of his mouth.

I yelled to my Dad who was in the car, "I think this guy's having a seizure or something!" I ran into the video store and told the lady working there to call an ambulance. I looked back outside to see the guy now sitting on his knees banging his head against the cement. I then went back outside and headed for the car. I took a look back at the guy, and his head was busted open and spewing blood all over his face and cement. I got into the car, and said, "Let's get the fuck outta here!" At that point, I had already had the idea of zombies in my head, and wanted to get away from that area, and fast. "Did you tell them inside to call an ambulance?" my Dad asked. "Yeah."

I am honestly freaked out. Even if this guy wasn't infected with some reanimation virus, I have never seen someone do THAT to themselves before.

Newly risen [31 Mar 2007|10:28pm]

[ mood | creative ]

Hey everyone, I'm new to the community, and thought I'd offer something. Below are links to some work I have posted online.

The first is entitled 'The Risen'. I wrote this in Grade 9 so the quality is not up to my personal par... but not bad for a miner niner. Is about 28 pages long on Microsoft word. Rated 'M' or 'R' for violent content and language.

The second in called 'Shattered'. Started this last year, lost interest in it, then started again after my infantry qualification this past summer. Took a totally different turn than what I expected it to. Still writing it. Rated 'M' or 'R' for violence, language and sexuality.

The third and final one for now is called 'State of Emergency'. This one spawned from a conversation with a buddy from work. He said we'd never actually fall to zombies because of advanced military machines like tanks. This is my response. Rated 'M' or 'R' for violence and language. The shortest of the three.

Hope you all enjoy the stories.

A Zombie Story [29 Mar 2007|12:12am]

I wrote this a little while ago, and you can buy this from Lulu in my short-story collection The Dark . If you want to buy it, just go to www.lulu.com , sign up for an account and make sure your viewing settings is set to 'Mature.' I'm not asking you to buy it, since you can read the stories at my fictionpress. www.fictionpress.com/~kodyboye , but if you want it in print, you have to buy at Lulu. It's only $7.99.

I'll shut up and get the story posted here:

Kody Boye

The tradition of embalming the dead was started hundreds of thousands of years ago by the Egyptians themselves, and it was for good reason. Entire cities had vanished for, apparently, no reason at all. We were to understand that people just walked on off and abandoned them, leaving the sands of time to deal with the after affects of the inhabitants disappearance.

But, still, to this day, speculation surrounds what actually happens in Egypt . . .

Only a choice few speculate what actually happened.

World War Z Community [04 Dec 2006|08:30pm]

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Nearly a decade after the end of official hostilities investigative journalist Max Brooks published his novel World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War. It was his hope to offer a more personal look of the war that had been left out of the official United Nations Postwar Commision Report.

Countering the cold, statistical information presented by the UNPCR, the book was heralded with rave reviews not only in the United States where it was originally published but around the world. The raw interviews presented offer the human side of a war that was often far too in-human. The interviews represent a wide spectrum of survivors and provide a sample of the extraordinary survival stories common in the postwar era.

However, with Zack still a threat in numerous parts of the world, we cannot afford to forget the costs and struggles that came with this war. There are millions of zombies still stalking along the bottom of the ocean and Iceland still remains the worst infected white zone on Earth. There are still a great number of threats to the human race and we cannot afford to let another war break out.

worldwarz was created as an extension of the grand endeavours of Mr. Brooks. We would like to collect as many personal accounts, interviews, audio clips, photographs, illustrations, and video clips as possible to document the events of the war.

We welcome any and all to share their stories.

With your contributions, the war may never be forgotten.

wanna survive the apocalypse?

[04 Sep 2006|09:01pm]

What up Southern Californians! How sad is it that we haven't had a zombie apocalypse yet? This is extremely crossposted so forgive me for that but here's what's happening:

What: L.A. ZombieWalk 2006
When: Saturday, October 7th at 6:00 PM
Where: Starting at Hollywood/Vine, we'll head West down Hollywood, South down Highland, then West down Sunset until our poor undead dogs start barking.
What to wear: Plenty of blood, pale makeup, scars and wounds, funeral suits, scrubs, work or school uniforms if you've got one and can wash it without too much trouble, bridal gowns, clubwear, pajamas - we need zombies from all lurches of life!

A handy map.Collapse )

That's a heck of a lurch but my motto is if it sucks we can leave. I figure afterwards I'll get dinner and drinks on the Strip somewhere, anyone's welcome to come along.

Sound good? Now spread the word! And join la_apocalypse for discussion and updates! Also!

Autumn: A zombie novel. [20 Jun 2006|02:26pm]

Has anyone checked out David Moody's Autumn series? If you go to http://www.djmoody.co.uk/ you can read the first of the series 'Autumn' for free. It's a good read and I'm thinking of purchasing Autumn: The City, Autumn: Purification and Autumn: The Human Condition but wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts on them.

If you've never heard of the Autumn series or David Moody I highly suggest you check out the website. Here is the description for the free ebook 'Autumn'

In less than twenty-four hours a vicious and virulent disease destroys almost all of the population. Billions are killed. Thousands die every second.

There are no symptoms and no warnings. Within moments of infection each victim suffers a violent and agonising death. Only a handful of survivors remain. By the end of the first day those survivors wish they were dead.

A small group of desperate people take shelter together in a village hall on the outskirts of a large city. Too afraid to venture out into the infected world, their shelter becomes a prison and the frightened group begins to splinter and crack under the emotional and physical pressure of the inexplicable situation.

Terrified and trapped without electricity, water or supplies, the survivors exist from hour to hour.

Then the disease strikes again. And all hell breaks loose.
